When a window needs adjusting
Window rubs the frame
The sash has sagged on its hinges and catches the frame or sill.
Hard to close
You have to press the sash or the handle turns stiffly.
Draught when closed
The sash pressure is too weak and the seal does not sit tight.
Balcony door will not close
The sash sags, the latch does not catch or you have to lift the handle.
Handle does not return
The hardware moves unevenly and needs setting.
Change of season
Draughty in winter, stiff in summer: it is worth checking the pressure.

Is adjustment enough to stop a draught?
Often yes, when the cause is weak pressure. If the seal is worn, we replace it together with the adjustment.
Do you adjust wooden windows?
Yes. We adjust both PVC and wooden windows and balcony doors. For wooden windows we agree the scope and cost after inspecting the window.
What if adjustment does not help?
We will tell you after inspecting the window. Usually a new seal or a hardware part is needed, and replacing the whole window is rarely necessary.
